Stand Firm

During the creation of the United States of America, a significant party happened that immediately went into history. That gathering was known as the Boston Tea Party.

 In 1773, hundreds of people disguised themselves as American Indians and got onto three vessels and dumped 342 chests of tea into the water.

The main reason was because of “taxation, without representation”. In today’s dollars the tea represented about $1,700,000.

It incited a desire for the Americans to be a separate and strong people. They showed that they were no longer puppets of a tyrant. No one was killed during this stand for liberty, and I’m sure that meant even more for these early patriots.

Matthew 24 tells us, “He who stands firm to the end will be saved”.

In this scripture, Jesus is speaking about what is to come and what His people can expect in the last days before He provides this statement.

For those patriots that led the Boston Tea Party, I’ll bet you that they didn’t think “This is our last hoorah!”  But rather I think that their minds were fixed on staying the course because they knew it would take much more to truly be free.

Jesus warned us of wars, false prophets, wickedness, love growing cold, famines, earthquakes and people saying they are of God and deceiving others. But that very last statement increased hope.

“he who stands firm to the end will be saved”! Stand Firm!
